Frequently Asked Questions

What is Lumeo?

Lumeo is the name of our new regional Health Information System (RHIS). It is an electronic health information system that will provide you with one electronic medical record for your care in our six partner organizations. Your healthcare providers will be able to use the system to access your medical history, and easily add information about your appointments, your treatments and your test results.

Will the hospitals be completely paperless?

There will still be some paper, such as documents that come from outside the hospital. These documents will be scanned into the system to become part of your medical record.

How secure is the system and my medical information?

The system is being built by Oracle Health, a company that has significant experience building secure medical records systems. The Lumeo system will have strict adherence to privacy and security standards, along with 24 /7 monitoring and support. Your data will be stored in Ontario, and compliant with Ontario laws and regulations.

What is the HealtheLife Portal?

The HealtheLife Portal gives you access to your medical record at our six partner organizations. You’ll be able to view your medical history, test results, treatments and appointments, and add important information such as new medications or allergies.

Will information from my family doctor be included in the new system?

Not at this time. You will be able to add some information that is typically part of your family doctor record, such as allergies and medications.

How will Lumeo change my care?

You will notice some changes in your care:

  • You may notice that your healthcare team is using more technology, such as smart phones, mobile workstations and barcode scanners. This technology is replacing the paper charts that you currently see.

  • You won’t have to repeat your medical history to each healthcare team – they will be able to access your information through Lumeo’s shared electronic medical record system.

  • If you are a caregiver, you may be able to access information about your loved one’s appointment through the HealtheLife Portal.

  • Clinical practices (the way things are done) will be more standardized across the southeast region, so you’ll know what to expect at your appointment.
